Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested latest: Former prince pictured leaving police station

Trump claims Epstein turned against me

US President Donald Trump claimed that sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was against him in the 2016 elections.

He said: “It’s really interesting because no one would talk about Epstein when he was alive and they are talking about it now, but I’m the only one who can talk about it because I’ve been completely cleared.

“I didn’t do anything, quite the opposite. He was against me. As I learned from the last three million pages of documents, he was fighting me in the election.”

‘Spectacular fall from thinness,’ says expert

Craig Prescott, a royal expert at Royal Holloway, University of London, said the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was “the most spectacular fall from grace for a member of the royal family in modern times”.

He compared it in severity to the crisis sparked by Edward VIII’s abdication to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

“And it may not be over yet,” Mr. Prescott added.

Watch: King ‘nightmare’, royal expert says

Jennie Bond says Andrew’s arrest was ‘nightmare’ for King Charles

Royal expert Jennie Bond says Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest is a “nightmare” for King Charles and Buckingham Palace. Thames Valley Police said Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, who turned 66, was detained at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on Thursday (February 19) over allegations of misconduct in public office. Bond, who has been a royal correspondent for 14 years, told Sky News that the former prince’s arrest was “extraordinary and shocking”. “The pressure has been so high over the last few weeks that you feel like something has to happen,” he said, but said he believed it would be in the form of police cars searching Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s properties, not an arrest.

Detailing what police surveillance might have been like for anti-monarchist Andrew

An anti-monarchist has given insight into what it must have been like when Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was detained in police custody after being detained on suspicion of abusing public office. Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was detained at Sandringham Manor in Norfolk on Thursday, February 19. Speaking to The Independent, Republic chief executive Graham Smith said he hoped the former prince would be held in a cell without questioning “rather than sitting around drinking tea in the police office”. Mr Smith, who was detained by the Metropolitan Police on the morning of King Charles’ coronation, described his own experience as “pretty brutal”. “Not that I wanted that to happen to him,” she said, “but I was hoping he would be treated the same way.” Mr Mountbatten-Windsor has routinely denied any wrongdoing regarding his connections to Epstein.
