Anti-ICE agitators arrested at Minneapolis airport during demonstration

Multiple anti-ICE agitators were arrested in Minneapolis-St. Friday after a crowd of protesters showed up at St. Paul International Airport (MSP) despite freezing temperatures demanding airlines take a stand against federal immigration enforcement.
Faith in Minnesota, a group of religious activists “calling for racial and economic justice in Minnesota,” posted a video of the arrests on social media, claiming more than 100 clergy and faith leaders had been arrested.
The agitators were seen kneeling on their knees as the police took them one by one onto the bus to take them to jail.
“In -20° weather conditions, more than 100 clergy and faith leaders were arrested at MSP Airport as they gathered in peaceful and prayerful resistance to demand that airlines, primarily Delta and Signature Aviation, stand with Minnesotans and say #ICEOutOfMN,” the organization wrote. “… This must end.”

Police have not yet confirmed the number of arrests.
Faith in Minnesota claimed that more than 2,000 deportations were carried out from the airport, claiming that MSP employees were detained by ICE at work and while commuting.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission told the affiliate FOX 9 Minneapolis “He worked in advance with event organizers to best accommodate freedom of expression rights while also ensuring uninterrupted operations at MSP Airport.”

According to FOX 9, the approved demonstration permit was limited to where protesters could gather and how many people could attend in order to ensure public safety.
“When permitted activity went beyond agreed upon terms, MSP Airport Police began taking appropriate action, including arrests, to protect public safety, airport security, and access to Terminal 1,” the commission said in a statement to FOX 9. he said.
Meanwhile, illegal protests broke out at the Whipple Federal Building, where demonstrators gathered following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent on Jan. 7, prompting dispersal orders from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and deputy agencies.

“Deputies have been on site for the past several hours and have made several attempts to ask protesters to unblock the access road,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement to X. he said. “The group was clear that they would not remove the road block. They explained what would happen if MPs did not comply with legal orders. We gave them time to act.
“Pieces of ice were thrown at multiple vehicles and windows were broken. Deputies issued dispersal orders three times for an illegal protest. Those who disobeyed orders and continued to engage in unlawful behavior have been and will continue to be arrested. Please avoid the area.”

A march is planned for Friday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis as part of “ICE Out of Minnesota: A Day of Truth and Freedom.”
According to FOX 9, hundreds of businesses have been closed due to support for those detained by ICE.
