Who is Varun Berry?
Varun Berry took over as Britannia CEO in May after former CEO Rajneet Kohli resigned in March.
Berry, then a senior figure at the company, was already serving as Executive Vice President and MD of Britannia.
Varun Berry has been with Britannia for almost the last 13 years and has held key positions in the company for over a decade.
He joined the consumer goods giant in 2013 as vice president and chief operating officer.
Prior to his tenure at Britannia, Berry worked for PepsiCo’s India unit for over a decade. The industry veteran joined PepsiCo India in 1993 as Market Division General Manager. Seven years later in 2007, he joined PepsiCo International as COO of Vietnam and left as CEO of the company’s International Dairy and Juice unit in the UAE.
He later joined PepsiCo’s India unit.
Before joining PepsiCo, he worked as a marketing manager at Hindustan Unilever for over six years.
Varun Berry’s resignation from Britannia comes at a time when the company is charting the path for its next phase of growth. The company said it will become a “total food company” by expanding its products in the coming years.
