Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Kennedy’ gets selected for Letterboxd’s first-ever Video Store

New Delhi: Anurag Kashyap’s globally acclaimed directorial “Kennedy” was the only Indian film selected for Letterboxd’s first Video Store.

Letterboxd, a social platform for movie lovers to save, review, rate and discover movies, will officially launch its online movie rental platform Video Store on Wednesday.

This event will feature a curated mix of acclaimed films, special Academy Award submissions, and festival hits that can’t be found anywhere else. The Video Store is billed as the next evolution of the platform’s movie discovery mission, according to a press release, with movies currently available in 23 countries.

Starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, the film is a Mumbai-based cop noir that has its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.

Kashyap said “Kennedy” is one of his most personal films.

“I am happy that the film will finally be available for general audiences in some parts of the world. This is one of my most personal films and I would love to hear feedback and reactions from the audience and I am grateful to Letterboxd for putting the film on their new platform. I hope we can release it in India soon as the producers are working on it,” he said in a statement.

The film is produced by Ranjan Singh, Good Bad Films and Zee Studios.

“After going to nearly 30 festivals around the world, it is a great moment for the film to be presented to moviegoers in these countries and we are extremely proud to be the only Indian film in this lineup,” said Singh.

“We would like to thank Letterboxd for choosing Kennedy and our studio partners Zee Studios for their support in making this possible. We are working together to release the film in India soon,” he added.

The film was also screened at many film festivals such as Sydney International Film Festival (Australia), Bucheon International Fantasy Film Festival (South Korea), Neuchatel International Fantasy Film Festival (Switzerland), MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, Indie Meme Film Festival (Austin, Texas), Melbourne Indian Film Festival (Australia), London Indian Film Festival (UK), Fantastic Fest (USA), Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and Kolkata International Film Festival. was also shown. others.

The film will be released in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Switzerland.
