AP CM Naidu Congratulates Humpy on Bronze at World Rapid Chess Championship
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Indian chess grandmaster Koneru Humpy for winning the bronze medal in the 2025 FIDE Women’s World Rapid Championship held in Doha.
Humpy finished the tournament with 8.5 points after 11 rounds, in a draw with Chinese Zhu Jiner and Russia’s Aleksandra Goryachkina. However, after tiebreaks including Buchholz and opponent ratings, she was awarded the bronze medal and Goryachkina took the title after a play-off. A last-round draw against Indian player B.
