Aralam elephant attack: KPCC chief seeks aid for victim’s family

Expressing his sadness over the loss of another life in the wild elephant attack in Aralam, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Sunny Joseph demanded immediate intervention of the authorities in the matter.

In a statement, he said that repeated requests have been made to the Forest department and Aralam farm officials to take effective steps to ensure the safety of Scheduled Tribe families in the area.

He said in a recent meeting held by forest officials, there was a demand to deploy additional rapid response teams to curb the growing menace of wild elephants. Concerns were also raised about the delay in the construction of the proposed forest boundary wall. He claimed that despite the discussions, there was no effective intervention by the authorities.

Calling for immediate and comprehensive measures to combat elephant attacks and wild animal attacks, Mr Joseph called on the government to provide immediate financial assistance to the family of Aneesh, who died on Friday.
