We now know what Starmerism is – but the prime minister lacks an inspirational vision

Following the name of a political leader, a “-ism” is usually for years. Define guiding philosophies.

However, while Sir Keir Starmer pointed out his first anniversary as the prime minister, he presented “Starmerism ı as a concept for himself even without bothering to wait for the usual friendly commentator to invention for him.

Some of them describe this as “Two Tier Keir” (from the rows of justice and prosperity) or “never here” (many travels abroad), but there is clearly something very different in mind.

The definition of “Starmerism çıktı was really revealed when he received questions from journalists on the plane as he flew to Canada for the G7 summit.

“If you like these stages, this is very ‘Starmerit’,” he said about his last expenditure review. “The first job is always cleaning, cleaning, and then continue from there.”

In fact, “correcting the foundations” has become one of his favorite captures in the last 12 months.

He regularly talks about Tories’s economy, NHS, prisons, and how he quit the whole country, and perhaps like his father, the father manufacturer, to correct it and to build it from there. In addition, with Brexit reset, he successfully seized his approach to international relations, fixed his relationship with Donald Trump to the point where they seemed very close, and corrected his trade agreements.

The definition summarizes the powerful and very prominent weakness of a government that loses voters’ goodwill faster than anything in history after winning a majority with a 156 -seat.

As a senior minister puts it in a special way Independent: “There is no North Star… When people have a target point, it makes the more difficult choices on the road much easier.”

The comments dealt with the lack of a major vision for Starmerism – Blair’s third way, or very different from Thatcher’s return to the state.

Welfare reforms were made in the middle of the rebellion. The scores of workers’ deputies did not want to support the cuts that had already been damaged by the winter fuel fiasco.

This nonsense saw the winter fuel payments from millions of retirees at the beginning of the government for a U -turn after political damage.

“It is very difficult to persuade people to trust you when you understand so wrong before,” he said.

In his last interview, Starmer regretted the lack of that great vision or the sunny hope loading in his first download Street Rose Garden speech after he started his duty. Everything has determined how the country was broken and how to do hard things to correct it, and the tone for a miserable year.

However, some of the problem was a lack of infrastructure to help the creation of this vision. Simply, the Labor Party came to the government because of the lack of central left thinking organizations – policy development and lack of factories of ideas.

Emek was founded together for this purpose, but Jeremy Corbyn and his supporters had to deal with “saving the party .. Unlike the center right, they do not think of the center left.

This was subjected to a bad trial and rushed welfare reform. When Sir Iain Duncan Smith became a Toray Secretary in 2010, he came to the oven for several years with a ready -made reform package developed by the Social Justice Center. There was no such thing as turning labor.

This means that the government is concerned that policy is made and directed by the Treasury Short Period-or Fast Corrections.

“The balance between the Downing Street and the Treasury is wrong, the Treasury has a lot of power and a lot of control over the policy,” a minister said.

This government of Chancellor Rachel Reeves was more accused of welfare reforms, winter fuel and non -popular inheritance tax changes to farmers, and more accused of all other ministers. All these ideas were repeatedly offered to ministers by the Treasury officials, but finally found a willing buyer in Reeves because of a policy gap.

It was also a constant problem with bad communication. The ministers still draw their heads that a story of the prosperity, which should be an extra £ 20 billion in the benefits system, has become one of the £ 5 billion cuts.

“We have a communication problem,” he frankly confessed.

Communication problems were not only talking to the portraits in the media or social media messaging, but only to new deputies – many of them apparently not even met the Prime Minister.

It also reflects that the government does not receive much credit for some things that it carries out. They are on the way to correct the water industry and prisons, but flat economy is concern.

Meanwhile, Dreadful survey ratings, PM’s record and the rise of Nigel Farage and reform have created its own short -term distraction elements, which some of them see as the obsession of Starmer’s very criticized Chief of General Staff Morgan Mcsweeney.

There is a sense of people who are loyal to Sir Keir, people who need patience, because “the things we put, free school meals, extra NHS appointments, and changes in the economy will take time for people to feel.”

But in the Labor Party until May and another series of bad elections to survive – there is much less philanthropic sound.

Both favorite Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner and Health Secretary Wes Streeting will replace Wes Streeting, a large vision of a North Star, so if Starmer cannot find itself, it can be short -term as a repairman of the broken things in the Downing Street.
