Delhi, Noida, Gurugram weather: Cold wave, dense fog persist across Delhi-NCR, alerts IMD

Weather update in Delhi
According to IMD data, Delhi woke up to bitter cold and very poor air quality; According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 357 at 7 am, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category, while temperatures remained around 3-4°C in the early morning hours due to dense fog and cold wave conditions.
Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 21.6 degrees Celsius, which was 1.7 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 3.0 degrees Celsius, 4.4 degrees below the seasonal average.
Delhi last recorded a lower minimum temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius on January 16, 2023. Dense fog reduced visibility in the early morning hours and cold wave conditions are expected to continue in the national capital.
Noida weather updateDense fog was reported in Noida and parts of western Uttar Pradesh in the morning and cold wave conditions continued, the IMD said. Minimum temperatures in the region hovered around 4 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures remained around 20 degrees Celsius. Overnight temperatures are expected to remain below normal and the fog is expected to persist late at night and into the morning hours of the next day, the weather service said.
Gurugram weather update
Adjacent parts of Gurugram and Haryana also experienced cold wave conditions, with IMD reporting that minimum temperatures dropped to around 4 degrees Celsius at various places. Daytime temperatures remained unchanged between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius. Dense fog was observed at isolated places in the early morning hours and similar conditions are likely to continue, the IMD said.
