Arrest made after Oklahoma State Capitol vandalized

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – A man was arrested after the Oklahoma State Capitol was vandalized on January 13, authorities said.
The vandalism involved the word “die” spelled out in three columns. Other areas read “I am still here” and “Sons of Liberty.” There was also a symbol of anarchy.

Shelby Lang Smith was arrested Friday morning after a warrant was issued, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Authorities say Smith is also a registered sex offender.
He faces charges of Malicious Destruction of Property and Making Threats of Violence.
“The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is responsible for the protection of the State Capitol and the safety of those who work in and visit this building. We will aggressively investigate and pursue anyone who threatens this security or damages public property. Acts of vandalism and threats of violence against the Capitol will not be tolerated.” OHP said on social media.
