Artemis II successfully splashes down in Pacific Ocean after 10 days in space making history

Artemis II successfully landed off the coast of California after making a historic revolution around the moon on a 10-day mission.

The capsule touched down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, and the high-risk reentry into Earth’s atmosphere went off without a hitch.

Giant orange and white parachutes were deployed to help slow the capsule, which reached speeds of up to 40,000 kilometers.

Artemis II’s crew, including commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover and specialists Jeremy Hensen and Christina Koch, will remain on board for up to two hours before being lifted off by helicopters.

More to come.
