Artemis II’s Jeremy Hansen calls Project Hail Mary ‘a real treat’ before his space mission | Artemis II

Project Hail Mary, the new space movie starring Ryan Gosling, has received rave reviews from more than half the moon.

Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen said Saturday that he and the Artemis II crew should watch the movie with their families before flying around the Moon. He said it was “a real pleasure” to watch the film as he prepared for his own space adventure.

Gosling, Hansen’s Canadian friend, offered his best wishes to the four astronauts before Wednesday’s liftoff. The actor and astronaut is from the southwestern Ontario city of London.

“Art imitates science, and science imitates science,” Hansen said during a live television event hosted by the Canadian Space Agency. “I thought that was a very inspiring example, of someone who went out there and implemented what was done to save humanity. That’s a pretty extraordinary example that we can all follow.”

Hansen became the first non-US citizen to fly to the moon.

If all goes as planned, Hansen and his crew will set a record by venturing further from Earth than any human has ever before – more than 250,000 miles. The current record is held by the Apollo 13 crew, who received the Hollywood treatment with a critically acclaimed movie in 1995.
