Arunachal CM Urges Sensitive Approach to Forest Issue Resolution

Itanagar: On Tuesday, Arunaçhal Pradesh Prime Minister Pema Khandu called on a sensitive approach to addressing forest issues and emphasized the importance of respecting the rights and traditions of tribal communities.

Khandu said that the ecological priorities of protection efforts should balance the welfare of local communities.

“It is important that the forest department approaches with sensitivity by remembering that tribal communities call these lands for generations for generations.” He said.

He spoke at the State Board meeting of the wildlife.

“It is important to protect our forests, but it is also vital to protect people who call these forests as home for generations. When we both honor both, we build a sustainable, fair and respected future.” He said.

At the meeting, he also emphasized cultural sensitivity while implementing forest policies and reviewed strategies to strengthen the protection of wildlife in the state.

The Arunachal Pradesh government recently tried to adopt a community-led approach for biodiversity protection through the recent state biodiversity strategy and action plan (SBSAP) 2025-2035.

Authorities summarize the local action points that are compatible with national biological diversity goals in order to actively protect communities, regions and local groups.
