The project, which was declared a national project by the Indian government in 2008, is expected to play an important role in India’s water and energy security.
With the approval of Parong, the acceleration behind the Sump continues to grow, and Arunachal reinforces Pradesh’s role in providing India’s water security, while preparing the ground for a project that balances cultural protection with modern development.
Before Parong, four villages, Pangkang, Riga, Riew and Begging, had already signed MOUS for the PFR process. Collectively, these approvals reflect the increasing unity and confidence between the Siang communities and forms a strong social basis for the successful implementation of the project.
