Footage captured the chilling moment screams rang out as survivors escaped nightclub inferno at a Swiss ski resort.
It is stated that approximately 40 people died and 100 people were injured in the explosion that occurred during New Year’s celebrations at a luxury ski resort in Switzerland.
The fatal explosion occurred at around 1.30am local time (12.30am GMT) at Constellation Bar, located in the center of the Alpine town of Crans-Montana.
In a clip shared on social media by a tourist from New York, bright orange flames can be seen pouring from the bar as dozens of people run away from the fire.
As survivors escape the fire in the darkness of the night, sharp shouts and screams can be heard in the footage.
A woman who witnessed the fire started said that the fire started when the waitress, who was dancing on the shoulders of a colleague, held the sparklers too close to the ceiling.
According to local authorities, foreign tourists are also among the victims.
Footage published on local media showed a building engulfed in flames and nearby emergency services.
The explosion occurred at around 1.30am local time (12.30am GMT) as revelers were celebrating the New Year at the Constellation Bar in Crans-Montana.

Swiss newspaper Blick reported that a doctor at the scene suggested that the death toll could be “dozens”, while Le Nouvelliste newspaper said its sources described a “heavy loss” with “around 40 dead and 100 injured”.
One of the fire survivors told French news channel BFM: ‘In the evening, a waiter climbed on the shoulders of another waiter.
‘He was holding a birthday candle very close to the ceiling and [the ceiling] It caught fire within a few minutes.’
Another woman said: ‘The stairs leading up to the nightclub were extremely narrow. There was a huge increase in the crowd. We managed to escape just in time.’
Police commander Frédéric Gisler confirmed that the fire ‘started in the basement of the bar’ and a stampede ensued as people desperately tried to get out via the single staircase.
Another witness, Emma, said the fire started after people were celebrating with champagne bottles containing candles.
‘Some of the bottles were close to the ceiling and caught fire. The entire ceiling was in flames and the fire spread very quickly. It happened in seconds. “We ran outside screaming and crying,” he told BFM.
Other reports suggest the explosion may have been caused by fireworks, but police say this has not yet been confirmed.
An eyewitness added that “countless” ambulances and several helicopters rushed to the scene.
“An explosion occurred from an unknown location,” said police spokesman Gaetan Lathion in the canton of Wallis in southwestern Switzerland.

Approximately 100 people had gathered in the bar, which had a capacity of 300 people and a small terrace that had a capacity of 40 people.
A doctor at the Swiss air ambulance and rescue service told local media that hospitals were ‘overflowing with burn victims’.
Describing the incident as ‘serious’ and stating that ‘a major emergency response is ongoing’, the police statement said, ‘Many people lost their lives and others were injured.’
“A large contingent of police, fire and rescue personnel immediately arrived at the scene to assist the numerous victims,” the statement said.
‘The operation is still continuing.’
Crans-Montana is a luxury ski resort town located in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
It is about two hours away from Switzerland’s capital, Bern, and is popular with British tourists.
A no-fly zone has been established over the resort and the area has been completely cordoned off, police said.
A local resident who said he lived nearby told Lausanne newspaper 24 heures: “The party was in full swing… music and champagne flowed freely.”
However, as news of the fire came, the carefree atmosphere disappeared and people began to gather on the streets, they said.
‘We could hear sirens in the distance. ‘People around me were stunned, worried and silent.’
“We heard helicopters all night long,” another neighbor told 24 heures.
‘We didn’t know what was going on with the fireworks at first. Then we saw the smoke. ‘That’s too bad, a lot of young people go to that bar.’
The UK embassy in Bern said it had not yet been contacted for assistance but that ‘nationals from more than one country’ could be affected.
‘Swiss emergency services are responding to a fire in Crans-Montana and citizens from many countries are likely to be affected. “We continue to monitor the situation,” wrote X.
‘Although we have not been approached for assistance, our staff are available to support British nationals abroad 24/7.’
