CM Receives Grand Welcome In Dubai

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was given a grand welcome by a large number of Telugu NRIs, including women and entrepreneurs, upon his arrival at the Dubai airport on Wednesday.

Naidu is on a mission to attract investment to the UAE and invite global industry giants to the CII partnership summit to be held in Visakhapatnam on November 14 and 15.

Among the people the CM met on the first day of his trip were A. Amarnath, Charge d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy and Satish Sivan of the Consulate General in Dubai.

Consul General Sivan said that the UAE has a strong partnership with India in the field of trade and technology, and ties are further strengthened through mutual investments. “Commercial relations with India have increased by 50 percent in the last three years. Indians are also taking a big step to invest in the UAE, paving the way for an increase in trade.”

He said India is now a destination for the knowledge economy. UAE spends more on technology and focuses on non-oil economy. He noted that the UAE established a separate ministry for Artificial Intelligence in 2017.

Chargé d’Affaires Amarnath told the Prime Minister that the UAE has invested $23 billion in India so far and has received 50 percent of it in three years. UAE is willing to invest in India in areas such as education, healthcare, green energy and food parks.

Prime Minister Naidu said ties between India and the UAE have strengthened over the last decade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited many countries promoting India and establishing better relations with the world.

Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has introduced various industry-friendly policies. “Google is coming to Andhra Pradesh in a big way. The state government is prioritizing green energy, technology, data centers and quantum valley. AP has many opportunities for investment in the food processing industry,” he said.

Ministers BC Janardhana Reddy, TG Bharath and a number of officials accompanied the Prime Minister.
