Boy, 4, in critical condition after being hit by firework

The condition of a 4-year-old child who was hit by a firework is critical.

Lancashire Police are now appealing for a man to come forward in connection with the incident and warn “it has gone too far this year”.

The force said officers attended a number of incidents involving the anti-social use of fireworks in Burnley on Wednesday.

During these incidents in the Elm Street area, a 4-year-old child was seriously injured and remained hospitalized in critical condition.

Police released images of a man they wanted to talk to about the incident and appealed for officers to help identify him.

“We are aware of the use of anti-social fireworks in this area before, but this year it went too far and resulted in a child being hospitalised,” police said in a statement. “We’re calling on the community to do the right thing and tell us who he is.”

Anyone who recognizes the person in the photographs is asked to email burnley.npt@lancashire.police.uk quoting investigation reference 04/189049/25.
