Kalyn Ponga extends with Newcastle until 2030, Scott Drinkwater signs three-year deal with Dragons
Newcastle Knights have locked in full-back Kalyn Ponga, with the 28-year-old extending his contract at the club until at least the end of 2030.
This is an important signing for a club that has struggled over the last decade but is showing promising signs of improvement under new coach Justin Holbrook.
There is also a two-year option in the club’s favor, meaning Ponga could possibly end his career at Newcastle, where he has been with since 2018.
For the first time in almost a decade, the club’s long-term future looks promising; Halfback Dylan Brown is signed until 2035, quarterback Sandon Smith is signed until 2029 and local talent Fletcher Sharpe is signed until 2028.
Meanwhile, the Dragons signed Cowboys fullback Scott Drinkwater to a three-year contract; The club is trying to bounce back after years of disappointment and the sacking of manager Shane Flanagan.
Drinkwater will join the Dragons from the 2027 season until the end of 2029.
