Assam Govt Approves Special Public Prosecutors in Zubeen Garg Death Case

Guwahati: The Assam government has approved the appointment of a team of Special Prosecutors in the Zubeen Garg death case. The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday evening.
Announcing the decisions of the cabinet, Prime Minister Sarma said the lawyers appointed included Senior Advocate Ziaul Kamar as Special Prosecutor; Brojendra Mohan Chaudhuri as Additional Special Prosecutor; and Kishor Dutta, Pranjal Dutta and Vikash Jammar as Special Assistant Public Prosecutors. The cabinet also decided to allocate Rs. 5 crore to Zubeen Garg Memorial Trust.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government for approving the 34.5 km long elevated corridor in Kaziranga National Park. The foundation stone of the project will be laid by the Prime Minister on January 18.
The Prime Minister added that PM Modi will also attend a major cultural event at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex on January 17, where around 10,000 Bagurumba dancers will perform together. The Prime Minister will also virtually flag off two trains, one from Dibrugarh to Gomti and the other from Guwahati to Raota.
Additionally, the State Cabinet has approved Dag No. Approved settlement of 1 bigha land allotted to 449 of them in favor of Bodo Sahitya Sabha.
The movement aims to promote indigenous languages and culture, support the Bodo community and contribute to wider social and cultural development by creating a permanent infrastructure for literary and cultural activities.
