Assaults reach a record high in WA, new ABS data reveals

The attacks in Western Australia reached record levels last year, the new Australian Statistical Office data, two -thirds of them are about domestic violence.

The figures released on Wednesday show an increase in an increase in an attack of 10 percent in 2024 and recorded in the highest 30 -year time series.

The attack rate rose from 1,486 to 2024 in 2023 to 1,580 victims per 100,000 in 2024.

About three of the five victims of the attack were women, while more than one quarter of the age of 25 to 34 years.

Most of the attacks occurred in a settlement and did not contain a weapon.

Sex attacks increased by nine percent in 2024. This was also the highest sacrifice recorded throughout the history of the series.

Most of the victims of sexual assault were women again, and almost half were children aged 10 to 17 years.

Almost one -third of all registered sexual assault events is associated with domestic violence.

The data also showed that 64.7 percent of all attacks in WA last year were higher than domestic violence attacks than all other states in the country where it was registered.
