Assembly Elections LIVE updates: ECI approves transfer of returning officers for West Bengal polls

The Election Commission of India yesterday approved the transfer and posting of returning officers for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, including the Bhabanipur constituency represented by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, an official said.

According to the attached list, the commission accepted the state’s proposed change in a letter to the Director of Elections.

The reshuffle covers several constituencies, including the high-profile Bhabanipur seat represented by the Chief Minister, officials said.

The poll panel instructed the officers to report to their respective constituencies by 5 pm on March 24.

The aim of the movement is to ensure that they attend a training program planned to be held on March 25 at 11:00 before the election process.
