Houston Astros star Carlos Correa detailed the heartbreaking ordeal he and his son faced on a Minnesota lake last summer.

He said he turned to God to help him through this difficult time.
“‘Lord save me’ he said he told MLB.com. “‘I promise you, if you get me out of this, I will serve you and I will serve you forever.'”
When he arrived at the buoy, Correa was not yet out of the woods. He slipped and fell under the water. Trying to stay above water, he shouted to a boat for help. Correa’s father-in-law, who was on the boat, noticed the MLB player was struggling and swam to help him.

Houston acquired Correa in a trade with the Minnesota Twins last July. This was his second stint with the Astros, as he remains with the team at the start of the 2026 season.
He played 51 games for the Astros in 2025, hitting .290 with six home runs.
Correa played eight years with the Astros from 2015 to 2021 before signing a deal with the Twins. With Houston, he became a two-time All-Star, won a World Series and was named the 2017 American League Rookie of the Year.
