Meta names ChatGPT co-creator as chief scientist of Superintelligence Lab

New York (Reuters) -Meta Platforms, CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s statement on Friday, Chatgpt’s co -creator Shengjia Zhao’yu appointed.

“In this role, Shengjia will determine the research agenda and scientific aspect for our new laboratory, which works directly with me and Alex,” Zuckerberg wrote to Alexandr Wang, the head of the Meta, Alexandr Wang, which Meta rented from the starting scale.

Zhao, a former research scientist in Openai, created several mini models of Chatgpt, GPT-4 and Openai, including 4.1 and O3.

While Zuckerberg runs aggressively from competitors to close the gap in the advanced AI, among a few researchers who have moved from Openai to Meta in recent weeks. Meta offers striking starting opportunities to attract the best researchers, a strategy that follows some of the most lucrative payment packages of Silicon Valley and the overwhelming performance of Lama 4.

Meta has recently launched a super -laboratory to reinforce the work on lama models and long -term artificial general intelligence ambitions. According to the Threads Post, which operates separately from the AI Research Department, led by the Deep Learning Pioneer Yann Lecun of Meta, Zhao is the founding partner of Lab.

Zuckerberg said that Meta aims to create “full general intelligence ve and publish its work as open source – a strategy that creates both praise and concern in the AI community.
