“We allowed two hours for a 50-minute drive to Caulfield and some idiot crashed on the motorway and filled everything up.
“He will jump at Pakenham on Tuesday and race the 1000m group 3 head at Caulfield next weekend.”
Hulbert Racing later posted a follow-up message on the social media platform: “They’re everywhere…they can go and jump in a machete box so I’m not calling anyone poof.”
When contacted for comment, Will Hubert told this imprint: “I told the truth and I stand by my comments.”
“Next time a bunch of teenagers steal a car and someone dies, let me know what their parents think about teenagers being called idiots,” he sent a text message.
Hulbert admitted to using the word “poof” in a follow-up post, but said it wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular.
Racing Victoria officials confirmed the social media posts were brought to their attention at Saturday’s race meeting. They postponed the investigation until Monday.
“The referees have not been able to speak to the stable at this stage but will endeavor to conclude (our investigation) as quickly as possible,” the stewards’ statement said.
In the past, coaches in Victoria have been fined for comments on social media that were damaging to the image, interests and welfare of racing.
A VicTraffic post on X just after 11am announced that all entrance lanes of the Monash Highway were being held at Belgrave-Hallam Road due to a police incident.
“Consider exiting the Princes Highway, exiting the South Gippsland Highway and returning to the Monash Highway,” the post said.
Departure lanes opened in the afternoon and delays decreased.
Caulfield racing has been postponed until 11.20am on Saturday to avoid extreme heat in the afternoon.
The third race started at 12.20, but Hulbert Racing failed to get on the track from the outside of Lady Of Five, despite a time extension until 11.50. The Lindsay Park-trained La Gitana was also caught up in the Monash Highway incident and was also affected by the same incident.
The 1000 meters race was won by the Greg Eurell-trained outsider Rubi’s Choice, 23-1; and the blue diamond preview for colts and fillies was one of the races for the favorite Alibaba, trained by Ken and Kasey Keys.
The standout race of the day, the group 3 1200m Manfred Stakes, was bested by the three-year-old Zoustar colt Space Rider, ridden by Ethan Brown and trained by Mick Price and Mick Kent jnr.
