At least six people are killed in Mississippi shooting rampage as gunman opens fire at three locations

At least six people were killed in a shooting in West Point, Mississippi, on Friday night.
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said in a Facebook post early Saturday morning. He said law enforcement had taken one person into custody and that ‘there is no longer a threat to our community.’
Scott later told NBC News that the attack took place in three different locations but did not elaborate beyond that.
“Unfortunately, tonight we were confronted with tragedy in our community,” Scott wrote. ‘I ask you to keep our victims and their families in your prayers. Law enforcement are busy investigating and will issue an update as soon as possible.’
No information was given about the identity of the suspect or the possible reason for the attack.
Due to the lack of concrete details, residents reacted with horror to the tragedy and expressed gratitude to the police officers who responded.
‘Thank you for the update. “Such a terrible night for a family and community,” Leslie Ann Mackey wrote under the sheriff’s post.
‘Thank you all for your quick and dedicated response to this nonsense. My prayers go out to all the victims’ families and all your offices (sic). You have all worked diligently and professionally, and the community is grateful to all of our officers. God bless our society,’ wrote Gertrude Gaskin.
The Daily Mail has contacted the Clay County Sheriff’s Office for more details.
