A warning was given to households in the UK before the upcoming bank holiday in August. People who plan to travel by train on Monday (August 25th) are warned to check their routes before they set off, as some journeys may be broken. Network Rail says that the majority of its network will work during the Bank holiday weekend, but engineering work will take place on some routes to provide basic upgrades.

The railway company says that the work in some parts of the network is “inevitable ve and therefore it is recommended that the passengers will be directed to some routes or they will check their journeys in advance because they will have longer journey times, and instead they will have railway replacement buses. The main network rail routes, which will be broken during the August bank holiday, includes London King’s Cross and Peterborough, London Victoria and Dartford and Birmingham International and Birmingham New Street.

Due to its maintenance work between the East Coast digital program and Peterborough and Potters Bar, there will be long -distance services between London King’s Cross and Peterborough on Sunday (August 24th). There will be buses between Peterborough and Bedford for advanced travel.

The re -signal work in the Lewisham region means that there will be no Southeast Services from Victoria to Dartford on Sunday, August 24th and Monday, August 25th. There will be railway backup buses between the new cross and Dartford via Bexleyheath and will be accepted as tickets between Bank and Lewisham.

Between Saturday, August 23rd Saturday and Monday, August 25, the Runway renewals in Garrison Street and Tysleley, Birmingham International and Birmingham New Street means that railway spare buses will be available. Avanti and crosscountry services will be directed with expanded journey times and will end in London Northwestern services Birmingham International.

Buses will also replace the trains on the lines surrounding Guildford between Saturday, August 23rd and Monday, August 23, due to engineering improvements at the South West Railway Network. Ascot, Guildford and Alton’s lines will be closed during the weekend, while Surbiton and Effingham junction connecting the junction of the line will not see passenger train services.

Railway spare buses will also replace the trains between Kew Bridge and Barnes on the South West Railway Network between Saturday, August 23rd Saturday and Sunday, August 31st.

Network Rail’s Chief Network Operator Helen Hamlin said: “As the August Bank approached the holiday weekend, we carefully planned our engineering activities to minimize the interruption, and allowed people to trust in the railway and to benefit the best at the end of the summer bank holiday weekend.

“Although the majority of the railway will work, it is unfortunately inevitable to work in some parts of the network, because we will complete great work to support a better, more reliable railway that we cannot complete a normal weekend. Therefore, we want the passengers to control their journey to ensure that their routes are not affected.”
