Kaur became the first female cricketer to lead the Women in Blue to victory in an ICC tournament as India lifted their first ODI World Cup trophy and the tournament was crowned with a new champion in 25 years.

Kaur was ecstatic after the win and shared inspirational words for the new generation of players aiming to reach the top of world cricket and chasing the dream of lifting a World Cup.

In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the World Cup-winning skipper said, “I was dreaming about when I would wear this blue jersey. I think it means a lot to me, a young girl who has no knowledge of women’s cricket but still dreams that one day I want to bring this change to our country.”

“And I think all of this shows that you should never stop dreaming. You never know where your destiny will take you. You never think about when it’s going to happen, how it’s going to happen. You just think it’s going to happen. So I guess it was just my belief in myself, that it could be possible. And it exactly happened,” he added.

The Women in Blue, who landed here on Tuesday evening, are preparing to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
