Ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in Punjab, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu’s political trajectory is now shifting decisively towards the State.
A three-time Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, he currently serves as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and Minister of State for Railways. Mr. Bittu said he has completed 17 years in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Stating that he has “packed his bags” and is fully ready to move to Punjab, he made it clear that he will take part in the active politics of the state.
“Now I want to serve Punjab and will contest the Vidhan Sabha elections to be held early next year,” he told media persons. Mr. Bittu’s Rajya Sabha tenure ends on June 21.
According to party sources, Mr. Bittu is likely to be a candidate from the Ludhiana (Central) Assembly constituency in the 2027 assembly elections. His remarks strongly suggest that the BJP top leadership has directed itself to focus on Punjab and start preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.
It is noteworthy that before his tenure in Rajya Sabha, Mr. Bitti Bittu had served as Member of Parliament from Anandpur Sahib once and twice from Ludhiana in Punjab.
Meanwhile, the party has released a list of candidates for the 2026 Rajya Sabha elections; here he nominated the party national general secretary and senior party leader from Punjab for Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.
