Gurgaon colder than Shimla! Minimum temperature in Gurugram drops to 0.6 degree, hill capital at 4°C

Gurgaon temperature today: Believe it or not, the hill town of Gurugram became colder than Shimla when the minimum temperature dropped to 0.6 degree Celsius, the lowest temperature recorded in Haryana. The sharp decline came amid an ongoing cold wave in North India, prompting an orange alert for the city, while frost and dense fog added to the winter chill, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Chandigarh. Some social media users shared that the temperature dropped below -1 degrees.

Gurgaon Weather: Gurugram tops Haryana’s cold list

According to the official IMD bulletin shared on X, the lowest minimum temperature in Haryana was recorded at 0.6 degree Celsius in Gurgaon AWS. After Gurugram, Narnaul reported the next lowest temperature at 1.2 degrees Celsius.

In contrast, Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, recorded a minimum temperature of 4 degrees Celsius, making Gurugram cooler despite its urban environment.
IMD Chandigarh data shows how fast the mercury is sliding. On Saturday, Gurugram recorded 1.8 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the minimum temperature rose to 4.1 degrees Celsius, followed by a sharp decline overnight.

Delhi too feels the pain of winter

The cold wave was extending beyond Haryana. In Delhi, the minimum temperature on Monday was three degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road. This came a day after the lowest temperature was recorded at 2.9 degrees Celsius in Ayanagar, underlining the spread of severe cold across the region.

Gurgaon Weather Forecast: Orange alert issued as cold wave continues

As temperatures dip further, IMD officials have issued an orange alert for Gurugram for the next two days, warning residents to prepare for continued cold weather conditions and dense fog.

Isolated places over Haryana (including Gurugram), Chandigarh and Delhi are very likely to experience cold wave to severe cold wave conditions and cold wave conditions will continue on January 13. Dense to very dense fog is likely to occur in northwestern India (including Delhi-NCR/Haryana) during the morning hours over the next few days, which may cause visibility problems and disruption to travel.

Frost paints fields and cars white

The bitter cold has left visible scars on the outskirts of Gurugram. Many villages reported frost on crops and vegetation early on Monday.

This type of frost formation indicates near-freezing or subzero conditions, although official urban measurements vary slightly.

Residents also shared images of ice-covered cars and fields on social media. Some even went outside with temperature readers, wondering how cold it was in the morning.
