Emotional Harry Styles ends his record-breaking 12-night Wembley residency with tribute to One Direction as Liam Payne’s parents watch on

Harry Styles paid an emotional tribute to One Direction as he ended his record-breaking 12-night Wembley Stadium residency on Saturday; Liam Payne’s parents were watching proudly from the crowd.
The singer rose to fame as a member of One Direction after the group was formed on The X Factor in 2010, where the group finished third.
The band became one of the biggest pop acts in history, selling more than 70 million albums worldwide and embarking on sold-out stadium tours, before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
Tragically, Liam died in October 2024, at the age of 31, after falling from the third-floor balcony of his room at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
During Harry’s final Wembley show, fans spotted Liam’s parents Geoff and Karen Payne in the audience, as well as his sister Ruth and his young niece.
As the concert came to a close, the singer took a moment to thank the band that launched his career.

The singer first rose to fame as a member of One Direction in 2010 after the group formed on The X Factor, where they finished third.
Addressing the sold-out crowd, he said: ‘I wouldn’t be here tonight if it weren’t for my four friends. I want to thank Niall, Louis, Zayn and my dear friend Liam!’
Also during the night, Harry’s sister Gemma took to the stage to give a sweet congratulatory speech.
“I’m proud of who you are and who you allow others to be,” he enthused.
Harry is celebrating the release of his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time, Disco Wonderful, with a massive world tour.
Its 12-night run in London made history as the longest-ever Wembley residency by a solo artist.
During the entire stay, Harry was accompanied by country music legend Shania Twain, who served as support.
Fans will be treated to hits such as Golden, Adore You and Music For A Sushi Restaurant, as well as Dance No More, Aperture and Are You Listening Yet? A song list full of new songs was offered.
The residence received rave reviews from Harry’s loyal fans and critics, with the Daily Mail’s Adrian Thrills writing about the ‘triumphant’ first night.
In its four-star review, Thrills said: “It was an emotional night that showed just how far Britain’s only global pop phenomenon, Styles, has come since rising to prominence with boy band One Direction in 2010.”
Harry announced a seven-city global residency called Together, Together at the beginning of the year.

During Harry’s final Wembley show, fans spotted Liam’s parents Geoff and Karen Payne in the audience, as well as his sister Ruth and his young niece.
From May to December 2026, it will make 50 stops in Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City and New York City; this will include 30 nights alone at Madison Square Garden – Melbourne and Sydney.
This comes after Harry posted a sweet tribute to his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift on Friday.
The singer held the penultimate date of her concert at London’s Wembley on July 3, the same day her ex married Travis Kelce thousands of miles away in New York.
But despite the distance, Harry appeared to still have Taylor, 36, on his mind as he tweaked the setlist.
Although Harry had not performed on any other dates during his residency, fans were shocked when Harry sang his single Two Ghosts in 2017, which was believed to be related to Taylor.
It was previously reported that Taylor offered Harry an invitation to her wedding but had to decline because it conflicted with her tour.
Harry’s fiancée Zoe Kravitz attended without him.
But excited fans who took to X/Twitter during the show insisted it was Harry’s way of making up for his absence.
They shared: ‘HARRY STYLES SAID TWO GHOSTS ON TAYLOR SWIFTS’ WEDDING DAY WHAT IS HAPPENING #harrystyles #taylorswift.’
‘I think it’s iconic that on the day of Taylor Swift’s wedding, Harry Styles broke the record for most shows at Wembley in a single year while singing a line from Two Ghosts. Oh how beautiful. July 3. ‘What a day.’
‘The concept of Harry Styles being invited to Taylor Swift’s wedding but not being able to go because he has a show, and he goes to that show in a suit and sings Two Ghosts.’
Taylor and Harry were only together for a few months in 2012, but the high-profile romance is said to have inspired both of their songs.
Two Ghosts is thought to be about Taylor, with lyrics like “Same red lips, same eyes blue/Same white shirt, a few more tattoos/But it ain’t you and it ain’t me either/Tastes so sweet, looks so real.”
The lyrics continued: “It feels like something I used to feel/But I can’t touch what I see/We’re not who we used to be/We’re not who we used to be/We’re just two ghosts standing inside…”
While fans theorized that the red lips were a reference to Taylor’s signature lipstick look, Harry added fuel to the fire by confirming that he was inspired to write music by some of his past relationships.
Harry also added fuel to the flames when his friend Nick Grimshaw asked him about the single on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
During the interview, Nick appeared to bring Harry into this when he described Two Ghosts as ‘the one about Taylor Swift’ before she starred in the show.
Harry later confirmed that the track was indeed about his ex-girlfriend, saying ‘Ahhhh no!’ he shouted. In response to Grimmy’s cheeky comment.
When asked if the song was directly about Taylor, Harry said, “I think it’s pretty self-explanatory,” before turning to his publicist and yelling, “Help me, Jeffrey!” he shouted.
As for Taylor, it has been widely reported that her 2014 hits Out Of The Woods and Style were inspired by the British heartthrob.
This comes after Harry’s fans noticed that he paid a sweet tribute to ex Taylor Swift while performing her penultimate Wembley concert on Friday, the same day Taylor married Travis Kelce in New York.
Fans were left in shock when Harry sang his 2017 single Two Ghosts, which is widely believed to be about Taylor, whom he split from in January 2013.
Taylor reportedly sent Harry an invitation to her wedding but had to decline because it conflicted with her tour, with fans thinking it was her way of apologizing.
Although Harry couldn’t make it, his fiancée Zoe Kravitz attended Taylor’s wedding on Friday and looked incredible in a gold dress.
While it’s fair to say Taylor and Harry are officially separated, they do have a connection through Batman star Zoe.
Harry and Zoe reportedly got engaged in April after nearly eight months of dating, and Zoe is a close friend of Taylor’s.
Zoe, who wrote lyrics for the singer’s hit Lavender Haze, attended the star’s wedding on Friday and looked incredible in a gold dress.
After months of gossip, rumors and conflicting news, Taylor and Travis finally got married with a massive bang in front of 1,000 of their closest friends and the world’s biggest stars.
They kept fans guessing until the end and refused to confirm exactly when they would say “I do” or if they had already said it.
But at exactly 7.30pm, the couple shared the news in blockbuster style, leaving the iconic music venue with a romantic nod to their shared initials: ‘JUST MARRIED!’ enlightened with video advertisements.
The press secretary later announced that both the bride and groom were wearing Christian Dior.
Since then, guests have enthusiastically welcomed the “epic, wonderful and life-changing” ceremony, with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos joking: “Who knew Madison Square Garden could be so welcoming?”
Adam Sandler was on duty and delighted the crowd with a ‘hilarious’ and ‘touching’ service.
‘It was very funny, it was quite a long speech. “I think everyone had a good time,” he said later.
There were no bridesmaids, instead Taylor’s brother Austin acted as her ‘man of honour’ and Travis’ brother Jason was best man.
Jason’s girls were flower girls, throwing flower petals at Taylor’s feet as she walked down the aisle with a string quartet playing one of her own songs at the entrance.
After months of teases, rumors and conflicting news, Taylor and Travis finally got married with a massive bang in front of 1,000 of their closest friends and the world’s biggest stars.
The theme of Madison Square Gardens was an old-fashioned fairground where guests were given the opportunity to use mechanical slot and pinball machines.
During the celebrations, 1,000 people, including A-list actress Julia Roberts, were each given a ticket, with one ticket selected to win a grand prize.
The ceremony was followed by an elegant dinner; before hitting the ground floor of the venue with an Alice in Wonderland and Wizard of Oz themed party.
During the reception, Paul McCartney was a surprise highlight when the former Beatle took the stage and stunned the crowd by singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand.
Sir Paul’s existence and performance had been kept a complete secret, and Swift pulled off a surprising coup by enlisting McCartney, who has been hailed as one of the key minds behind the birth of modern pop music, as her wedding singer.
A guest who attended the wedding said the celebrations were spectacular and on an unprecedented scale.
At one point, American football star Travis even tried to join in on the song himself.
Aside from the Beatles star, who has lived in the Hamptons for decades, there were plenty of artists on hand.
As well as dinner, there were food stations around the venue for guests to grab food, with one saying there was ‘chaos’ around them.
