Private bus goes up in flames on NH 966 near Calicut International Airport

A private bus traveling from Palakkad to Kozhikode turned into flames on Sunday, August 10, 2025 near Kondotty, near Kondotty. When the fire started, the bus was completely packaged, but the evacuation rescued all passengers.

The incident took place around 9 am between Kolathur and Thurakkal near Calicut International Airport. The bus called Sana had a technical problem who wanted the driver to stop and investigate. Shortly after, the smoke began to fill the engine.

According to the bus driver Abdul Khader, the short circuit probably caused fire.

After opening the locked automatic doors, passengers were evacuated. The local people tried to extinguish the fire, but the intense flames made it difficult for them to approach the bus.

Malackpuram, manjeri and Feroke Firefighters and Rescue Stations fire tenders ran to the scene and extinguished the flames, but the bus drowned completely. Many passengers were subjected to losses as their belongings were destroyed in the fire.
