Russia has held a full-scale nuclear exercise at a time when NATO is facing an existential crisis following Donald Trump’s latest threat. Vladimir Putin has ordered a World War III exercise with massive Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles in Siberia.

Missile crews practiced deployment to field launch sites, passing through areas of simulated radioactive contamination while using engineering equipment, camouflage and security, as shown in a video of the war game. A mock enemy sabotage group appeared to be “killed” by firearms.

The RS-24 Yars missile typically carries three or four nuclear warheads, each with a power of between 100 and 300 kilotons, making each warhead seven to 20 times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

Some sources claim it could be configured to carry up to six small warheads, but this is not standard deployment.

The Mach 25 missile is capable of hitting targets after reaching speeds of 19,000 miles per hour.

Yars missiles have a range of up to 7,500 miles, providing the opportunity to attack Europe as well as the United States.

They are currently the main element of the land component of Russia’s strategic nuclear force.

In the Siberian exercises, nuclear forces tested “combat readiness in field conditions” using mobile missile systems.

“Crews also conducted camouflage drills and required units to retreat from attacks by a simulated enemy, counter air strikes and warn of threats.”

The Kremlin is conducting regular exercises of its strategic nuclear forces to test war readiness and send warning signals to the West at a time when tensions with NATO rivals are high due to the war in Ukraine.

This comes as he said he was “definitely” considering withdrawing from NATO, which was formed in 1949.

His threat came in response to the refusal of European members of NATO, including Britain, to take part in the initial attack on Iran.

Such a move could lead to a massive Russian nuclear superiority in Europe and seriously weaken the defenses of the continent’s democracies.

Iran fired missiles at Israel and some Gulf countries, setting fire to a refinery in Kuwait; Explosions were heard around Tehran and Iran’s central city of Isfahan on Friday, as the United States prepares to further reinforce its already significant military forces in the Middle East.

As the war, which began on February 28, entered its sixth week, Israel, Bahrain and Kuwait warned of missile attacks, but it was unclear whether anything had been hit. Activists reported strikes around Tehran and central Isfahan, but it was not immediately clear what was hit.

Iranian drones attacked Kuwait’s Mina al-Ahmadi oil refinery on Friday, causing a fire at the facility. The state-run Kuwait Oil Company issued a statement about the attack, the third since the war began, and said firefighters were working to bring the fires under control. The company said no injuries were reported.

Iran’s attacks on energy infrastructure in the Gulf region and its tight control of the Strait of Hormuz, through which one fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas transits in peacetime, have caused oil prices to rise rapidly.
