Australia was their utopian dream. Who was I to shatter it?
We were walking in the rainforest of the new Bismarck archipelago. Our aviators were natives, the men of the inner villages. They were happy men freely and laughing. They carried many of our contradictions on their backs, smaller and stronger than us, but they must have been secretly shaken when the gradians became upright, because they didn’t have their own kits, and ours looked absolutely meaningless as the mountains rise.
At night they told us what they knew about Australia, hidden by smoke to prevent Anopheles by the campfire. They told us that Australia was a utopian miracle, but they did not use these words. They told us that each of the Australians were rich to a degree of shaking and heard that each child bought a new Toyota car on his 14th birthdays.

I said that they were not proud of being a citizen of this imaginary country, not wanting to break their romanticism or better worlds, and that they were well informed and what they said is true. Our young people drove themselves to school at the bright new Landcruisers. They told me that there were no poor people in Australia. I acknowledged that the rich are widespread and that our system and emotions cannot follow the poor, and therefore we are dealing with them by enriching them.
And no crime, they were amazed. No robbery or violence. Safe streets and easy sleep. Yes, I lied, we don’t need locks, the darkest night is as safe as the most brilliant day in Australia and the old police officers.
Moreover, they heard that even people who did not work in Australia had received money and knew it was real. I confirmed this. I said we have prosperity. “Money for nothing” was a surprising idea and they were not sure that they loved him, but if they caused widespread happiness, then they should be born and assumed.
“Common happiness?” I asked. Yes, they had heard that Australia was a happy country. This is true, I said, he’s not willing to throw Shangri-la of a stranger for the sake of honesty. I said the statistics grown at home prove that we are all the happiest place.
It was more wonderful for these men, that they had heard that we had no tribal fight in Australia. How can we do it? I asked. Although we have many colors, beliefs and history, although many tribes have many tribes, we have been raised in a clear-minded manner that we cannot see such a trivial difference-so it has become impossible to hate along the tribal lines. They stuck in these wonderful news and made boxing, and unfortunately they admitted that there were too many tribal problems in New Britain.

In a little heat, they stated that their politicians would not be trusted and that they received secret money from China and Malaysia and served their own interests rather than the interests of the people. Now I was a roller, and I have had a deep problem in hearing this immorality, and that political corruption was a special sin for their countries, and that ours were ruled by a parliament who constantly rotated other cheeks, defending sick and calming storms. Me coming to a place like this was proudly inflated – even knowing that I didn’t even do it.
At one point, I started to wonder if these guys had a lend and had. Did they realize that they were a patriotic in their hands and draw me to see how far I was going to go? Did they meet other Australian flag creators and encouraged them to similar Braggardry? Was this an old game they played before? Did they just give a license to the pride of a fool and were they running it for a gift at the end of Trip? As a result, it is a global norm and necessity for poor natives to straighten the first world visitors for snow.
I rejected this idea. The information about Australia had come with a vine that talked about the bullshit annually, not on TV, radio or internet. Many of us justify poverty in the subconscious situation as a situation it deserves, and thus we wander the broken streets of the third world towns Aglow with religiosity, and we advise tomorrow about how to build Rome. I think they believed that the brightness was released by Australian tourists on their islands.
I think they believed in Australia. And I was happy that such a country existed … Somewhere in the minds of those who are far from it. And a little sad, just because it’s there.
