Australian authorities remove foster kids from home with convicted triple killer

Two foster children living with a convicted transgender triple murderer no longer reside with the violent offender, although authorities have been aware of the situation since late December 2025, according to local media reports.
Reginald Arthurell, who began transitioning to the female gender shortly after being released from prison in 2020, was evicted from home after heavily armed police raided radio station 2GB on Monday. reported. The outlet said she has been living with a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old for several months.
The New South Wales Families and Communities (NSW) minister issued an apology on Tuesday, saying the situation “should never have been allowed”.

He added that “very poor decisions had been made” by the time authorities became aware of the situation and said a review was underway that promised systematic changes to determine how the “horrific” conditions were allowed to happen.
This sparked widespread outcry and calls for the resignation of officials who allowed the crisis to continue for months.
Arthurell moved into an existing foster home in Sydney late last year, 2GB reported. Here two children already lived under the care of an old woman. She reportedly met him while working at a hospital and he was a patient there.
The woman who invited her to move in as a flatmate already had two foster children living with her as part of a New South Wales Department of Communities and Justice-approved placement.
Arthurell therefore shared the house with the children. This arrangement went unnoticed by authorities until the nanny’s daughter reportedly raised her concerns late last year.

Court documents show that before moving in, Arthurell had established a lengthy criminal history that included the murders of three people over the course of three decades. He was first convicted of manslaughter for allegedly stabbing his stepfather to death in Sydney in 1974. He fatally beat a 19-year-old sailor during a violent robbery in 1981, and beat his fiancée to death with a piece of wood while on parole in 1995, local media reported.
2GB added that after killing her romantic partner, she was caught taking a photo of herself wearing one of her dresses.
Court documents show all three murders were alcohol-related. Records show Arthurell spent nearly 39 years of his life in custody following the murders.
After being released from prison in November 2020, Arthurell began transforming into a woman under the name Regina. The first public photos and self-identification appeared on a transgender community Facebook page in May 2021, 2GB reported. Arthurell had also expressed plans to undergo gender reassignment surgery “as soon as possible,” according to News.com.au. reported.

Court documents also state that his “transition has been ongoing for several years” and confirm that the process continued after his release.
Arthurell is now in private accommodation following his dismissal on Monday, ABC Australia reported Tuesday.
