During the event, King spoke to several guests, including Stephen Schwarzman, chairman and CEO of private equity firm Blackstone. Accordingly People Charles told Schwarzman that he was “very impressed by the music in the army.”
The King addressed the US President Donald Trump To “renew” the bonds of friendship between America and England at this “critical time.”
“And yes, we have had difficult moments, even in recent history,” he told dinner guests who included Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and golfer Rory McIlroy.
“When my mother visited me in 1957, one of her duties was to help make our relationship ‘special’ after the crisis in the Middle East.”
Some of the guests laughed when the king said: “It is hard to imagine that such a thing could happen today, almost seventy years later…”
The royal couple wrapped up their US trip today with a visit to Virginia.
They joined residents at a “block party” with food and entertainment to celebrate America, the creation of the country’s Founding Fathers, whom Charles described in his Congressional speech as “brave and inventive rebels with a cause.”
At one of America’s national parks, before being given the title of honorary Junior Ranger, King met with one of the region’s indigenous communities and people involved in conservation initiatives and efforts to protect the natural environment.
Separately, the Queen visited a farm to highlight the work of America’s horseracing industry and long-term links with the sport in the UK.
