The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday arrested Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui, the founding president of Faridabad-based Al-Falah University, in connection with the money laundering case. The private university has emerged as the epicenter of a terror module involving doctors who were behind the November 10 blast in Delhi. At least 15 people were killed and dozens more injured after an explosion near the capital’s iconic Red Fort.
In its statement, the Emergency Service said that Siddiqui’s arrest followed a detailed investigation following searches of the university building. The central investigation agency raided nearly two dozen places in Delhi. Several qualified doctors accused in the Delhi blast case had connections with the Faridabad-based institute. The explosion in Delhi occurred just hours after police found thousands of kilograms of explosives in Faridabad and detonated what authorities described as a “white collar” terror module. Other doctors arrested within the scope of the investigation are Dr. Muzammil Shakeel and Dr. Shaheen Shahid. A cleric from Jammu and Kashmir, accused of radicalizing doctors, was also detained. “The entire Al-Falah group has seen a very rapid rise since the 1990s when it became a major educational institution. However, this rise is not supported by sufficient financial resources,” ED said in a statement on Tuesday. he said.
