Axing of US beef ban sparks call for independent review

The speed of Australia’s decision to remove restrictions on the US beef raised its eyebrows in the cattle industry and called for a reproductive independent, scientific investigation.
The Federal government has announced that Australia will allow the US to reach beef meat, which was grown in Canada or Mexico, but in the United States.
The government faced pressure to alleviate restrictions, as US President Donald Trump sought exemption from extensive tariffs.
The announcement was made early on Thursday morning, shortly before a day before the briefing of industrial groups, and before all the details were announced on the government’s website.
Although Australia’s cattle industry groups were generally intact, the government’s calls for an independent, scientific panel to review the risk assessment.
Veteriner Physician and Cattle Australian Senior Advisor Chris Parker AAP told AAP, “We are interested in the speed of this – we were a little surprised,” he said.
“There are some lice and pieces that we need to get a very clear understanding, but due to the speed of this announcement, it is not at this stage.
“’We branded a cow or guidance, we put a label there’ to say everything is fine and beautiful, but what is the system that forms the basis of it?”
The US has been able to send beef to Australia since 2019.
The beef grown in Canada or Mexico was banned by the concerns that the latter could direct the animal husbandry monitoring system to import products from the continent of the continent with the outbreaks of diseases.
The decision of Thursday was made only after the US has brought more solid movement controls in recent months, after providing better identification and monitoring throughout the supply chain.
“We did not compromise biogugurism,” he said, in his statement to the journalists in Canberra, Julie Collins, Minister of Agriculture.
“(Department) is pleased with the strengthened control measures that the US effectively manages the biomulity risks.”
But tuberculosis and brucerculosis continue to be important concerns, Dr Dr Parker said.

Australian diseases are purified, but both can spread between cows and people, which means that the government’s extended supply chain should be free and safe from them.
The United States also imposes strict controls on Australian imports, such as regular plant inspections and government officials subjected to final inspections, and Dr. Parker says Australia should have equivalent arrangements for American beef meat.
Dr I am not saying that the US product is not safe – what I say has some things we have not done, and we need appropriate processes that keep the supply chain safe, ”he said.
Citizens repeated their calls for an independent investigation after accusing the leader David LittleProud of accusing the biogugree protocols of appeaseing “Donald Trump ..

For months, the government thought to use US beef for months and to use it as a bargaining chip in attempts to eliminate exemption from Mr. Trump’s tariffs.
When asked whether the tariffs affect the statement on Thursday, Collins said that the US has kept the sector up to date since the US demanded expanded market access in 2020.
Tim Ryan, CEO of the Australian Meat Industry Council, the movement is not a surprise, and Cattle Australia General Manager Will Evans, the US, agreed to maintain the access to beef exports to the United States.
Some are worried that the US may affect Australia’s domestic market, but Mr. Evans said it was not possible that imports would have an impact.

The US could not even meet its own needs and remained one of the main export markets for Australian beef meat.
US Agricultural Secretary Brooke L Rollins congratulated Mr. Trump after Australia’s cattle agreement.
“The days of putting American farmers on the sidelines are behind, Mrs Mrs. Rollins said.
“This is another example of the market access that the president negotiated to bring America to a new gold prosperity age, and leads American agriculture.”
