Baker, Costin combine for two top Coonamble contenders
Bjorn Baker’s strong team will be in action at Coonamble on Sunday with the Warwick Farm trainer’s two leading contenders.
Baker will start building Mawjood to the gallon in the $75,000 Qube Agri Coonamble Gold Exhibition Cup (1600m), with the event qualifying for the Big Dance at Randwick on November 4.
The trainer will also start Alabama Charm in the Dad N Dave Turf/Southern Cross Turf/Elite Sand & Soil/Evergreen Turf Super Maiden Showcase Handicap (1300m).

Mawjood finished first three times, winning a further five times from 13 starts. Previously trained by Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, Mawjood has made two starts since joining the Baker team, his third at Canterbury, and his last start in midweek company was the victory at Rosehill.
“He was an easy horse for the stable to get,” Baker said of Mawjood.
“He had a good history with the Hawkes team and had a good trial for us in his first race at Canterbury.
“He ran well in this competition when he was beaten less than a distance in a small field. He then continued his work by scoring easily at Rosehill.
“It now looks ideal for him to take a step forward in the promotion and the Coonamble Cup.”
