Bangladesh election results 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to BNP chief Tarique Rahman, who will become the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh after his party wins the polls.
PM Modi said he spoke to Tarique Rahman on X (formerly Twitter) and congratulated him on the victory.
“I was delighted to speak with Mr. Tarique Rahman. I congratulated him on his remarkable victory in the Bangladesh elections. I extended my best wishes and support in his endeavor to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Prime Minister Modi also reiterated India’s continued commitment to the peace and prosperity of the people of both nations.
“As two close neighbors with deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, I reaffirmed India’s commitment to the peace, progress and prosperity of both our peoples,” he added.

Bangladesh election results 2026
According to ANI, Bangladesh Election Commission has announced the official results of 297 constituencies of the 13th National Parliament elections, Prothom Alo reported on Friday.
Announcements for Chittagong-2 and Chittagong-4 constituencies have been postponed and will be made at a later stage, while the results of another constituency were postponed earlier.
EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed gave these details in his concluding speech at the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon today, outlining the status of declared and pending seats.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies won 212 of the 297 seats announced. The 11-party election alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 77 seats. Islamic Andolan Bangladesh got one seat, while independent candidates got seven seats.
According to Prothom Alo, the party-wise breakdown shows that the BNP won 209 seats as an independent.
According to Prothom Alo, voter turnout in this election was 60.26 percent, while 48 million 74 thousand 429 “yes” votes and 22 million 25 thousand 627 “no” votes were cast.
With results now official for most seats, the stage is set for Tarique Rahman’s BNP to assume governance responsibilities.
