UK will recognise Palestinian state in September unless Israel ends ‘appalling situation’ in Gaza

Britain, Israel, unless the “frightening situation in Gaza” finishes, will recognize the Palestinian province in weeks, Sir Keir Starmer on Tuesday, after the humanitarian crisis in the region will be a historical change in England policy.

After remembering senior ministers for the emergency cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister said on the two -state solution, “Now it was the right time to move this position.”

In an ultimatum for the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, Sir Keir said that Britain could recognize as early as the United Nations General Assembly in September, unless Britain did not accept a ceasefire and committed a two -state solution.

Foreign Minister David Lammy applauded the UN in New York, as Britain conveyed the news that it could be a historical turning point in the creation of modern Israel more than a century ago.

However, Israel immediately rejected the statement as an award for Hamas.

Under the pressure of moving on the crisis in Gaza for months, the Prime Minister has a series of sharp warnings about famine and hunger in the region. Cabinet ministers and Backbenchers added to the choir of the calls to move to the movement of 250 deputies who demanded the recognition of a Palestinian state last week.

Sir Keir said that the UN should be allowed to restart the aid supply and that the British people “rebel” with the hunger scenes emerging from the region.

The Prime Minister needs to see at least 500 trucks entering Gaza every day to provide for help in the British and allies, and the Prime Minister added and said, “They are making a great effort to get human materials back with air and land.

“In the meantime, our message to Hamas’s terrorists has not changed, but not clear: Almost all hostages should be released, registered in a ceasefire, disarmed and admit that they will play no role in the Gaza government. And we will make an assessment of how much the parties encounter these steps, but no one should take a veto on our decision.

Explaining the change in politics, Sir Keir said he was worried that if a Palestinian state is not recognized now, it may not be a state to recognize soon.

He said: “Today, it is guided by two things, the unbearable context in Gaza is getting worse, and at the same time because of the concern that the possibility of a two -state solution should be seen today, for years and both contexts.” He said.

Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz organized an emergency virtual cabinet meeting, where he put forward his peace plan.

He was pressure on Sir Keir to recognize Palestine as a state, but the decision to put the ball into the court of the Israeli government was a compromise to satisfy the two rival fractions in his cabinet.

Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood, Energy Secretary Ed Miliband and Foreign Minister David Lammy are among the senior cabinet members who support the Palestinian state plans.

On the other hand, Chancellor Rachel Reeves, Israeli workers’ friends (LFI), Lancaster Pat McFadden’s Chancellor Technology Secretary Peter Kyle, was worried that he would “reward Hamas”.

Speaking from the United Nations in New York, Mr. Lammy said that Britain has announced a “special responsibility burden” to support the two -state solution while explaining that Britain announced its plan to recognize the Palestinian state of Palestinian state in New York.

“The situation on the ground continues to deteriorate and the two-state solution is in danger,” the United Nations said to a conference on the conflict of Israel-Palest. He said.

He told Israel to reject a moral and strategically wrong two -state solution.

“Netanyahu government rejects a two -state solution wrong; morally wrong; and strategically wrong.”

The Labor Party Deputy Sarah champion, who organized the letter of the deputies who demanded the recognition of the Palestinian state, said: “A really big moment … It will be a very strong message that we send to Israel politically: We believe that the Palestinian people determine their own destiny and the statuo is not good enough.”

However, Israeli workers’ friends (LFI) warned that the recognition of a Palestinian state would be “only symbolic kadar unless they use the effects of Britain and their allies to özellikle to determine the principles of a meaningful path to the Palestinian state”.

A spokesman said: “The recognition of a Palestinian state except a meaningful peace process will not change anything on the ground and will harm our reputation as an impartial broker and reduce our ability to bring a sustainable long -term peace.”

Toray leader Kemi Badenoch said: “Keir Starmer’s remembering his cabinet to solve a political problem for the Labor Party is embarrassed. Recognizing a Palestinian state will not bring hostages home, will not end the war and will not get help to Gaza. This is the worst of this political stance.”
