Court shift for man accused of killing police officer

A man accused of the fiery killing of a senior police officer in a rural property shifted his subject to a different court.

The 57 -year -old Tasmanian police officer Keith Smith was killed in the northwest of the state on June 16, while he and another civil servant presented a reorganization notification by order.

Three days later, Leigh Geoffrey Sushames was accused of murder, attempted murder and heavy attack.

He has not yet made an objection to the charges, and on Monday, the Launceston Magistrates’ Court emerged briefly through the Governor’s Office through a video connection.

The case was shifted to Devonport Magistrates’ Court, Sushams appeared on October 1st. No reason was published in court changes.

Const Smith’s death was the first deadly attraction of an officer in Tasmania for more than a century.
