Politics LIVE: Rayner’s future on brink as fury erupts over tax saga | Politics | News

Bridget Phillipson said that Angela Rayner’s order on tax affairs was not like scandals under the previous government because it was “trying to be transparent”.
“What we have seen in these cases in the past was lack of examination and lack of transparency.
“The Deputy Prime Minister tried to be transparent, and considering the comprehensive information because it was related to his family, he appeared with some difficult details.
“Now in the hands of the independent advisor. This is important, under the previous government, the approach they took was not always the case.
“But transparency, accountability and standards in public life are of course important for us as a government and they are important for the Prime Minister and now the independent counselor can do and reach a conclusion as a part of this process.”
