Barack Obama to return to UK to discuss ‘what comes next for America’ in An Evening With Barack Obama
Former US president Barack Obama will tour Britain this autumn to talk about “what’s next for America.”
The 64-year-old name will participate in the following events: An Evening with President Barack Obama In Belfast, Glasgow and Manchester.
Shows at London’s The O2 and Dublin Arena follow in 2025.
Mr. Obama served as the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He was the nation’s first Black president and its only president to date.
He will perform at The O2 in Belfast on 13 October, the Ovo Hydro in Glasgow on 14 October and Co-op Live in Manchester on 15 October.
Guest moderators for the live interview shows have not yet been announced.
Organizers said Mr. Obama would talk about “what comes next for America and for all of us.”
Robin Sherry, founder and managing director of promoter Seat Unique, said: “Following the fantastic response to last year’s events, we are delighted to introduce three new opportunities for fans to experience An Evening with President Barack Obama.”
Mr. Obama was interviewed by British TV historian David Olusoga at The O2 in London in September.
During that speech, he lashed out at Donald Trump for committing “violence against the truth” following the US president’s false statement that the painkiller Tylenol is linked to autism.
Obama said the unproven claims “harm public health.”
“We’re seeing my successor make broad claims about certain medications and autism that are consistently debunked,” he said in a speech to an audience of 14,000.
“All this is violence against the truth.”
After his two-term presidency ended in 2017, Obama and his wife Michelle signed a deal with Netflix to produce documentaries, series and feature films for the streaming platform under their company Higher Ground Productions.
That agreement has since ended, and Mr. Obama said he and Michelle were in the process of “transitioning to a more independent agreement.” [company] where we can work with a lot of different studios.”
Mr. Obama won an Emmy for best narrator in 2022 for his work on the Netflix docuseries. Our Great National Parks.
He also won a Grammy Award for audiobook readings of two memoirs: The Courage of Hope And Dreams From My Father.
The Hawaii-born former president also hosted a podcast released in 2021: Traitors: Born in the USAwith rock singer Bruce Springsteen, which resulted in a book.
Tickets for the UK shows will go on sale at 10am on Friday 31 July at Myticket.co.uk and SeatUnique.com, with 100 tickets going to charity.
