Barron Trump ‘saved woman’s life’ by calling 999 as his friend was ‘being attacked’ during FaceTime call, court hears

Donald Trump’s youngest son saved the life of a woman in London by phoning the police after witnessing her being beaten over a video call, a court heard.

When Barron Trump heard that Russian national Matvei Rumiantsev had repeatedly punched his friend, he spoke directly to the 999 operator.

Prosecutors said Rumiantsev, 22, was jealous of the American’s relationship with the woman and flew into a rage when she tried to phone him earlier that evening.

The President’s son then answered a video call on the woman’s phone, showed Barron his face, then grabbed her by the hair, pushed her to the ground and shouted ‘you’re not worth anything’, Snaresbrook Crown Court in north-east London was told.

Jurors heard that during the alleged attack, Rumiantsev called the woman a ‘slut’ and a ‘whore’ and kicked her in the stomach as she lay on the floor next to the fridge.

Barron, 19, spent some time trying to figure out how to reach the emergency service in England before telling the call handler: ‘You know, I just got a call from a girl. He is being beaten.”

Jurors were played a recording of the conversation in which the woman gave her address and then added: ‘This is a real emergency, please. ‘I got a call from him saying a man had beaten him.’

After being scolded by the operator for refusing to answer questions, Barron told the call handler that he knew the woman through social media.

Barron Trump called the City of London Police from the US and told the call handler: ‘I just got a call from a girl I know. ‘He’s getting beaten’

BARRON: His name is [Redacted].

OPERATOR: Date of birth?

BARRON: This is a real emergency, please.

OPERATOR: How do you know him?

BARRON: So these details don’t matter, he gets beaten just like me…

OPERATOR: Yes, I know, but I need information from you, so how did you get this information?

BARRON: Oh, I got a call from her saying some guy beat her up.

OPERATOR: So how do you know him?

BARRON: I don’t think those details matter that he got beaten, but okay, also I met him on social media, so I don’t think that matters.

OPERATOR: You know I can…

BARRON: He’s being beaten!

OPERATOR: Can you stop being rude and answer my questions? If you want to help the person, please answer my questions clearly and concisely, thank you. So how do you know him?

BARRON: I met him on social media.

OPERATOR: OK.

OPERATOR: Do you know the name of the partner or the name of the person who beat him?

BARRON: No.

OPERATOR: Well, they are at home, do they not go out?

BARRON: That’s right. He’s getting beat up really bad and the call was about 8 minutes ago, so far I don’t know what could have happened.

OPERATOR: OK.

BARRON: So I apologize for being rude.

The person handling the call said to the President’s son: ‘Can you stop being rude and actually answer my questions? If you want to help the person, please answer my questions clearly and concisely, thank you. So how do you know him?’

Barron replied: ‘I met him on social media. ‘He’s getting beaten really badly and the call was about eight minutes ago, I don’t know what could have happened by now.’

He later added: ‘I’m so sorry for being rude.’

The search was made at 2.23am on January 18 last year.

The 6-foot-10 college student is Trump’s fifth son and the President’s only child with his wife, Melania.

He is thought to have raised the alarm during Rumiantsev’s trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

According to Metro, in the police body camera footage at the scene, the woman can be seen telling the police, “I’m friends with Donald Trump’s son, Barron Trump.”

One of the officers was later heard telling a colleague: ‘So this informant from America is probably Donald Trump’s son.’

The woman is then asked to call Barron back, and the American explains to officers that she was crying during the FaceTime call and could see that he was being hit.

‘I called you guys; It was the best thing I could do. ‘I’m not going to call him back and I’m not going to threaten him because that would make the situation worse,’ he told the officers.

While giving evidence, the woman said: ‘He [Barron Trump] It helped save my life. This call was like a sign from God at that moment.’

Rumiantsev is accused of raping the woman twice, assault, causing actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.

Police attended his home in Poplar, east London, in the early hours of January 18, 2025, following two 999 calls from the alleged victim and one from Barron.

The woman told officers she was slapped, punched, kicked and strangled during the attack.

Serena Gates, who prosecuted the case, said Rumiantsev tricked officers into allowing her to call the woman while in custody and was overheard saying things like “I’m in jail while you sleep in your warm bed.”

Eight days later, the Russian called his friend named Arsen from prison and said that he had sent him a letter that he was supposed to give to the woman, and in this letter he asked her to retract her statement.

The alleged victim retracted her statement but later told police that the original account was true and that Rumiantsev, a former MMA fighter, had also sexually assaulted her twice.

She said the Russian would deliberately get her so drunk that he could have sex with her without her consent.

He said you asked him why he was doing this and he replied ‘you would never want to do this with me so I’ll make you drink and make you do it’.

Sasha Wass KC, defending, claimed her statements about the alleged attacks were ‘untrue and fabricated’.

Rumiantsev denies assault, ABH, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation and perverting the course of justice.
