Japan’s PM-in-waiting Takaichi smashes glass ceiling

Sanae Takaichi went to the top in a male -dominated race to lead Japan’s ruling party, and made him the first female prime minister of his country to imitate his hero Margaret Thatcher.

Political analysts say that the surprise victory of the financial pigeon can shake the trust of the investor to one of the most debtor economies of the world, while nationalist positions may prevent friction with strong neighboring China.

It also increased the likelihood of making an investment agreement that reduces the punishment tariffs of the US and President Donald Trump on Japanese goods.

In 2024, 64 -year -old Takaichi, who lost a stream against Shigeru Ishiba to lead the liberal democratic party in 2024, will now receive approval from Parliament to fulfill him as the Prime Minister.

LDP is expected to be the largest party in Parliament, but the ruling coalition is not sure that last year there was no majority in both houses after the losses in the elections.

In October, it is expected that Takaichi will be one of Takaichi’s leader in Japan in October.

“Instead of being happy, I feel like a hard work is starting,” Takaichi said in his speech to LDP MPs after his victory on Saturday.

Takaichi, a former Minister of Economic Security and Interior, has repeatedly refers to Thatcher as a source of inspiration, and showed his strong character and his convictions with the “feminine temperature”.

He said he met with the conservative Thatcher, a separatist figure known as “iron ladi” in British politics.

Takaichi, a drummer and a heavy metal fan, is not alien to creating noise.

The temple of Yasukuni is a regular visitor, including Japan’s war – including some war criminals – honored – and is seen as a symbol of past militarism by some Asian neighbors.

Takaichi supports the review of Japan’s post -Pacific post -war constitution to recognize the role of the expanding army.

This year, Japan’s democratically managed island demanded by China, Taiwan can form a “semi -security alliance”.

Although Takaichi has promised to increase the number of women’s cabinet ministers, an area where Japan delayed G7 peers, the surveys show that conservative positions are more than men and women.

It oppose homosexual marriage and allows married couples to have separate surnames, which is a problem that has a wide public support in Japan, but facing loyal opposition in conservative circles.

However, they are economic policies that can create the greatest shock waves.

Takaichi, a long advocate of the Late Shinzo Abe’s protein and former Prime Minister’s “Abenomics” incentive policies, called for higher expenditure and tax reductions for increasing life costs and criticized Japan’s decision to increase interest rates.

Takaichi’s mother was a police officer in Nara in Japan, and his father worked at Japan’s critical automotive industry.

In an important speech in September, he complained about tourists who kicked the sacred deer circulating in Nara Park and promised pressure on foreigners who acted badly – it became a lightning bar for some voters among the record increases in immigrants and tourists.

According to the website, Takaichi graduated from Kobe University with a degree of business management before working as a member of the Congress at the US Congress.

Before joining the LDP in 1996, he entered the Japanese politics, which won a lower home seat independently in 1993.
