Former NSW MP Daryl Maguire found guilty of misleading corruption inquiry | Independent Commission Against Corruption

Former liberal deputy Daryl Maguire was found to be misleading a corruption investigation about the benefits of the sale of a $ 48 million property development.
Former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, a former member of Wagga Wagga, who led to his political collapse, appeared at Sydney’s Downing Center court for a decision on Friday.
Magistrate Judge Clare Farnan found that Maguire misled the NSW Independent Corruption Commission while giving evidence at the hearing in July 2018.
Farnan rejected an offer to suppress the publication of the guilty decision by Maguire’s legal team.
“I think the interests of the community in open justice do not predominate by Mr. Maguire’s interests,” he said.
In ICAC, Maguire was asked that Sydney expects to leave an estimated $ 48 million property development in Campsie in the southwest.
During the criminal hearing in the beginning of 2025, prosecutors claimed that Maguire had changed their evidence during the inquiry on allegations that they were not expected to be repaid.
He will face a sentence hearing on August 15th.

In 2020, ICAC opened a more investigation into Maguire, revealing a hidden romantic relationship with Berejiklian.
Berejiklian also avoided his role, and then ICAC found that the Minister of Transport, Treasurer, and then premier, violated the public trust in not to disclose the relationship that lasted for at least five years.
