Hindu Man Shot Dead In Bangladesh’s Jashore, Fifth Fatal Attack In Three Weeks | India News

Another member of Bangladesh’s Hindu community was shot dead in public in Jashore district on Monday evening, sparking fear among residents and intensifying concerns about law and order amid ongoing unrest across the country.
The incident took place around 5.45 pm at Kopalia Bazar in Ward No. 17 of Manirampur upazila. The victim was identified as Rana Pratap (45), son of Tushar Kanti Bairagi, a resident of Arua village in Keshabpur upazila.
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, unidentified assailants opened fire on Rana Pratap while he was in the market. The person, who was injured by multiple bullets, died at the scene.

After the attack, panic and confusion spread in the region. Police from Manirampur Police Station arrived quickly and brought the situation under control.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge Rajiullah Khan said, “We are at the scene. Preparations are on to recover the body and conduct an autopsy.” It was stated that an investigation was launched to identify and capture those responsible.
The killing is the fifth fatal attack on members of Bangladesh’s Hindu community in the past three weeks, occurring amid widespread protests and rising tensions in parts of the country.
Among the earlier incidents, Hindu garment factory worker Dipu Chandra Das was lynched during mob violence, while another Hindu man, Amrit Mondal, was also reportedly killed in connection with the unrest. In Mymensingh district, Bajendra Biswas was shot dead in a separate attack.
In another incident, Khokon Chandra Das, a Hindu businessman, was stabbed and set on fire by a mob near Keurbhanga Bazar in Damudya upazila Koneshwar Union in Shariatpur district on New Year’s Eve. He later died due to burns while receiving treatment at the National Burn Institute in Dhaka.
A series of attacks have raised serious concerns about the safety of minority communities and the deteriorating security situation in the country.
