Beauty queen, 21, died when her own car pinned her to wall and crushed her to death

A beauty queen died after being run over by her own car while unpacking her belongings in front of the university building.

Eleisha Skinner, 21, who was crowned Miss Faversham in 2022, was studying at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe when the tragedy unfolded.

As he was taking his belongings out of the car, it rolled backwards, pinning him against the wall of the university accommodation building.

Her family said Eleisha was able to call 999 when she became stranded and emergency services were there within minutes.

But despite the desperate efforts of his housemates and medical staff, he died days later in hospital on January 8.

A Buckinghamshire New University student will be awarded a posthumous bachelor’s degree with honors in social work, it has been confirmed.

The 21-year-old was hugely popular in his hometown and on Friday his family and scores of well-wishers gathered to celebrate his life at St Mary of Charity Church.

More than 200 people attended the funeral of the ‘beautiful, kind and selfless’ former carnival queen to pay their respects.

His coffin was carried by horse-drawn carriage past his old school, The Abbey, before proceeding along Eastern Avenue towards the church.

It was a traditional ceremony, but mourners were invited to wear pink ties as a tribute to Eleisha’s favorite color.

At his funeral, tributes were heard from his family, closest friends and former teachers.

Reading for the Skinners, Rev Corcoran expressed his love for Christmas, fashion and his family.

‘She is stunning, confident and always beautiful,’ she said.

‘Eleisha was the kind of person who made the world bigger just by being in it. Its impact was huge.

‘We will always carry with us our beautiful Eleisha, loved forever.’

His older brother, Kian, talked about the last time the siblings spent time alone and their special bond that dates back to their childhood.

‘I stand here today as a proud sister who has witnessed Eleisha grow into a wonderful woman,’ he said.

‘There will never be anyone who can replace my little sister. God bless him, I will always love you little brother.’

Eleisha’s grandfather George said: ‘We had the privilege of knowing you as a child, watching you grow, supporting you, celebrating the person you have become and loving you unconditionally.

‘Eleisha cared fiercely, fiercely about the people she loved, family matters, friends matters, and love matters.

‘We will always be with your mother and father. Family was everything to you, and you are everything to us.

‘Full of energy, mischief and joy. A presence that makes everything brighter.’

Mum Clare Skinner expressed her gratitude ‘for all the support, kind words and donations from people who knew Eleisha and those who didn’t.’

A GoFundMe has been started in Eleisha’s name for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance team, which the family said were ‘fantastic’.

The helicopter emergency medical service worker got into the ICU car and escorted him to the hospital.

In a tribute published after her death, her heartbroken parents Nigel and Clare Skinner said: ‘We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of our precious daughter.

‘Writing these words feels unimaginable, but we still want the world to know who she truly was: a kind, selfless, passionate young woman who always put others before herself.

‘Nothing was too much for Eleisha. ‘He had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room.’

A star student with a passion for learning, Eleisha did well at school in Faversham, attending St Mary’s Primary School and later The Abbey.

She flourished academically and socially and was always keen to get involved, whether it was organizing the school ball or fundraising for Faversham Fire Brigade.

Despite her outgoing nature, her family was surprised when she decided to put herself forward for Miss Faversham in 2022.

Showing off her beauty both inside and out, Eleisha was crowned and continued to represent the town at events throughout the county.

She embraced the role with pride, raising money for local charities and the Faversham Carnival Club, and loved attending dances and events where she made lifelong friends.

She was later chosen as Miss Congeniality by the courts at the Miss Kent Dinner, which her family described as ‘a true reflection of her gentle soul’.

‘Eleisha was so proud of her court that they attended many events. “The carnival community has become like a second family to us,” they said.

‘His love for his town and true personality shines through,” the Skinners said.

The inquest into her death opened at Beaconsfield Coroner’s Court this week and heard how the parked car pushed her towards the university accommodation building.

A full inquest into Eleisha’s death will be held at the same location on 23 June.
