Belagavi to have two solid waste management facilities: PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi

According to Satish Jarkiholi, Minister, Public Works Department, Karnataka, Belagavi will have two solid waste management facilities as the city’s area is larger than other towns. At the quarterly progress review meeting of various departments at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on November 29, he told officials to start work on these units as soon as possible.
The minister told officials to complete all work undertaken under the MP and MLA local areas development grant schemes. The minister in charge of the region also told officials to properly preserve all documents related to the process. He said he has instructed the Deputy Commissioner and zilla panchayat CEO to monitor several departments and submit reports to the concerned legislators.
“This was decided in the last meeting. I want these officials to examine each program in detail. This will facilitate speedy completion of pending work in various departments,” he said.
Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi demanded that MLAs and MPs make proper use of grants received under District Development Funds and submit compliance reports immediately.
He explained that the district administration has complied with the Supreme Court’s orders banning loud noise using loudspeakers in public gatherings and festivals. He congratulated the officers and staff for completing the social and educational survey conducted by the Backward Classes Commission on time.
Raju Kage, MLA and Chairman of North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation, urged the State Government along with the Union Government to take up the development of fertile lands damaged due to excessive irrigation in some parts of the district. He told officials to ensure proper distribution of drip irrigation subsidy and timely completion of multi-village drinking water programmes. Mr Kage said many MLAs were seeking bus operations in rural areas and their demands would be addressed in a phased manner. “We are purchasing 300 new buses. They will start serving in rural areas soon,” he said.
MLA Mahantesh Kaujalagi demanded quick action to fill the posts of anganwadi assistants of the Women and Child Welfare Department. He demanded action be taken against contractors who did not carry out work on irrigation projects on time.
Mr. Kadadi told officials to expedite work at the ESI hospital in Belagavi and warned that laxity could lead to depletion of funds. He urged the State Government to open procurement centers for black gram, green gram and soya. He called on the government to fill vacant positions in urban water supply departments
Asif (Raju) Sait told officials to send a proposal to the Karnataka government for purchasing another MRI machine for the super specialty hospital in Belagavi.
MLA Dhuryodhan Aihole told officials not to cancel ration cards of eligible beneficiaries. He requested the appointment of a specialist doctor in the government hospital in Raibag.
MLA Ganesh Hukkeri suggested that fencing farm ponds could reduce the chances of children drowning. Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Rahul Shinde said an awareness campaign has been launched to fence farm ponds and install safety equipment in borewells.
MLC Nagaraj Yadav urged officials to set up digital libraries in all government libraries.
