Sydney Herzog protest turns to chaos as police argued with MPs

The protest in Sydney for Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s state visit began quietly in Town Hall Square, a relatively blank canvas of public space located between Sydney City Hall and St Andrew’s Cathedral.
I arrive at 16:30, exactly one hour before the scheduled protest begins. Herzog arrived early in the morning, greeted by Israeli ambassador Amir Maimon. The protest against his visit coincides with a legal challenge in the NSW Supreme Court in the city against the state government’s invocation of the law. Major Events Act providing the police with extensive search and action powers.
