Ben & Jerry’s co -founder Jerry Greenfield resigned from the ice cream manufacturer about 50 years later in the middle of a line that continues with the parent company Unilever.

On Wednesday, in a clear letter shared by Cohen, the founding partner of the anonymous brand, Greenfield made the “painful” decision, but Unilever silenced the company’s ability to speak from global issues, including the conflict in Gaza.

Greenfield wrote in an article on X. “I decided that I can’t stay in good conscience and 47 years later I can’t stay as a employee of Jerry’s,” he wrote.

The separation comes despite the merger agreement with Unilever, who bought Ben & Jerry’s in 2000, which is expected to maintain its independence.

Ben & Jerry’s have long been vocal over social activism problems. However, the ice cream manufacturer has come to a mind with the owner Unilever since 2021, when the ice cream manufacturer said he would stop selling his products in the Israeli -occupied West Bank in response to the conflict in Gaza.

“It is extremely disappointing to conclude that the independence, which is the basis of our sales to Unilever, is extremely disappointing.”

Unilever is in the process of transforming ice cream into a new asset known as Magnum ice cream company, which will list the ice cream business in November.

A Unilever spokesman said that the company did not agree with Greenfield’s perspective and tried to involve both founding midsts in a constructive conversation on how Ben & Jerry will strengthen its power -based position.

“We & Jerry’s unique three-part mission-product, economic and social-taahhhühüz, and we continue to focus on maintaining the peace, love and ice cream of this iconic, popular brand.
